Each year, the Council of National Representatives (CNR) meets with the International Board (IB) of ESN International 6 times, to talk about a variety of topics.

This CNR took place in Debrecen, Hungary, from the 5th to the 8th of February and the experience was totally worth it. The plenaries were really fruitful and the social programme was really funny!

Thirty-seven ESN countries were represented during the CNR, either personally or via vote delegation. The ESN Denmark attendee at the CNR was Isabel Friis, our newly elected National Representative.

Thursday night the beautiful old main building of the University of Debrecen created the perfect setting for the opening ceremony.  The opening ceremony included wine tasting and traditional Hungarian folk dance, after the performance the participants had the option of teaching some of Hungary’s traditional dances.

The plenaries took place in Virto Diagnostic Centre at University of Debrecen. The first day had a lot of updates and discussions about the growth strategy of ESN, budget, and the country action plan. The day was round off with the famous EuroDinner, where each country brings traditional food and drinks.

Saturday the plenaries was centred on statues, standing order, the flagship project of 2015, and the new 3-year plan of ESN. Saturday night all participants took the tramp to the city centre and checked out a local pub and later continued to a club to dance the night away.

Sunday was the last day of the CNR, and a lot of the plenaries was dedicated to voting, the CNR agreed on different changes to the statues and standing orders, which will be present at the AGM for the entire network to vote on. Other than voting the plenaries of the last day contained outcomes from the regional platforms held during fall 2014.

The day and the CNR were round off with a Hungarian movie night followed by a round of karaoke where everybody got to show their skills.
